Both give elementary-age kids adaptive practice. The big difference is the game: Prodigy puts practice inside one, and Kiwi Tutor doesn't. This page tries to be fair to both.
Prodigy is a game: kids answer Math and English questions as they play, and Prodigy says all of its Math and English content is free, with optional paid memberships that add features. If a game is what gets your kid to practice, that's what Prodigy is built for. It also has English, which Kiwi Tutor doesn't have yet.
Is Kiwi Tutor a game like Prodigy?
No. Kiwi Tutor is practice without a game around it: no badges, points or coins to collect. Questions get harder or easier with each kid's answers, and a parent sees accuracy by topic.
Do I need a separate plan for each kid?
Not with Kiwi Tutor: one $10/mo family plan covers up to 5 kids. Prodigy's own site says each child needs their own membership.
Can we try Kiwi Tutor first?
Yes. The free plan covers Math with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division for up to 2 kids, with no card.
Prodigy details are from Prodigy's website, checked November 2, 2026. Prices and features change, so check there before you decide. Something here out of date? Email [email protected] and we'll fix it. Prodigy is a trademark of its owner; Kiwi Tutor isn't affiliated with it.
